Stone House
Sitting on a knoll overlooking the Potomac River and the rolling Virginia countryside is an estate unlike any other. Built by Schulz Homes in close collaboration with the estate's owner, this unique home has a casual feeling, making it ideal for entertaining family and friends.

The stone exterior is timeless. Inside, stone fireplaces, a slate entry and extensive use of wood create a feeling of an inviting country hunting or fishing lodge. The rooms flow into one another and all but one overlooks the river. There's even a special bunk room for the grandchildren.

Living Room: Even the most formal room, the living room, has a casual air in this home on the Potomac, built by Schulz Homes. It's a home for entertaining family and friends, with views of the river form every room but one. The massive stone fireplace makes a visual connection to the landscape.
Dining Room: One see-through fireplace serves two rooms. This time it's the casual dining area which, in turn, opens to the kitchen and gathering room. "This house was designed to be like a European hunting or fishing lodge where people come to visit nd feel very much at home," says builder Dale Schulz.
Library: Exquisite cherry paneling and cabinetry, and a fireplace with a cherry mantle and granite surround set the stage for this library. "The floor is North American cherry set in a herringbone pattern inside squares that mirror the beams in the coffered ceiling." says Dale Schulz. The desk is one of many furnishings the owners acquired when they lived overseas.
Lower Level: Walls of rough-hewn logs and chinking on the lower level convey the ambiance of a fishing lodge - and fishing is one of the owner's favorite pastimes. The stone fireplace, with a see-through firebox, duplicates the one above.
Lower Level: A seating area around the fireplace on the lower level permits guests to give advice to those playing a game of pool nearby, or to just sit and red a book prior to jumping into the outside pool, just a few feet away. Though casual, amenities abound throughout the house: a dumb waiter, elevator, appliances tucked here and there for drinks and snacks, a theater an even a workshop.
